Retreats For Renewal
“Even Mother Nature replenishes herself four times a year”  --Unknown
.
The first time I read that quote, I didn’t get it.  But once I read it over, and over, and over again, it finally clicked.  The wise person who coined this phrase was giving each of us permission to periodically retreat, so that we could renew.
.

Four times a year—Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall—we witness Mother Nature as she replenishes herself  through the magical and magnificent change of seasons.  Well, if it is good enough for Mother Nature, shouldn’t it be good enough for us?

Retreats For Renewal provide an opportunity for women from all walks of life to step away from the hustle and bustle of daily living and replenish themselves. These quarterly events—hosted once each season—provide a forum for women to come together for the sole purpose of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation.  While a number of personal empowerment workshops are included in these weekend experiences, a significant amount of “free time” has been built in as well.
.
If you are burning the candle at both ends, and need to put out the fires that are running rampant in your life, we invite you to join us for our next Retreat for Renewal!

I'M POSSIBLE!
They are our daughters.  They are our nieces. They are our younger sisters. They are our babysitters. They are “the girl next door.”  While they may be different in some respects, they share some common challenges. Growing up in a world that is highly sexualized, and where women are objectified.  It is a world that doesn’t award or acknowledge them for being intelligent, and as a result, many don’t strive to reach their maximum potential.  Far too many young ladies believe that what matters most is what they look like, what they wear, and whether or not the cute guy in science class has noticed her.  When they don’t get the attention and recognition that they so greatly desire—and deserve-- many believe that happiness and success is IMPOSSIBLE.
Our response to that mode of thinking is this:  If I believe that I’M POSSIBLE, nothing is IMPOSSIBLE.
I’M POSSIBLE is a five-part personal empowerment and self-esteem program created specifically for adolescent girls.  The objective of this program is to introduce young ladies to strategies, tools, and techniques for making positive life choices, resisting negative peer pressure, and identifying, setting, and achieving positive goals for their future.   While many young ladies in this age range believe that their hopes, dreams, and aspirations are IMPOSSIBLE, this program will help them understand and believe that I’M POSSIBLE!

Sister to Sister
SISTER TO SISTER is a Think Tank dedicated to the empowerment of African American women. Founded in 1993, the mission of SISTER TO SISTER is to provide a forum for African American women to come together to dialogue, strategize, and make recommendations regarding issues of relevance for African American women. In an effort to meet this goal, SISTER TO SISTER sponsors an annual conference for African American women of the Columbus/Dayton/Cincinnati (Ohio) region. Since 1993, the inaugural year of the conference, the conference continues to grow in attendance and impact as more women become aware of the conference and its unique approach. While a number of workshops are offered during each conference, each session is limited to 25 women which facilitates an intimate atmosphere conducive to sharing and interaction
Since its inception, SISTER TO SISTER has taken a proactive approach to addressing the issues of the African American woman.  Each conference theme seeks to provide focus to our dialogue and facilitate the development of positive solutions to today's problems.  Because we have been so successful in this endeavor, we have secured the support of numerous community partners. Our corporate sponsors and community supporters have included: The Kroger Company, The CareSource Foundation, AT & T, National City Bank, Premier Health Partners, State Farm Insurance, the SuccessGuide, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, Mark Baker & Associates, Wright State University, and The Ohio State University.
By providing a unique forum for African American women, SISTER TO SISTER  earned national recognition in its second year of existence. A Circle of Sisters (a publication dedicated to the empowerment of women) selected SISTER TO SISTER for inclusion based on its innovative approach to programming for African American women.
On September 18, 2010, we will return with the conference theme “But Wait. There's More!” As always, we expect this event to be a success.  We invite your participation as a sponsor or supporter. For more information, please contact Dr. Karen M.R. Townsend, Founder and Conference Chairperson at (937) 602-4641.
